About OCLP

The Oakwood Chinese Language Program was started and is run by Oakwood parents. The goal is to prepare our children for future Chinese language opportunities and to better prepare them to compete in a global environment. There are numerous cognitive and other benefits of starting foreign language learning at an early age. Learning Chinese has immediate relevance in today's "global" world. Children will be fascinated by experiencing one of the world's oldest and richest cultures. Teachers are bilingual native Mandarin speakers with experience teaching in the U.S. The Immersion Program will engage the children with methods similiar to their Kindergarten classes. Teachers will eventually speak only Chinese in class. The After School Program will use age appropriate language teaching methods. This is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational program.
